My name is Katriel and I work as a Hebrew tutor. I would like to share my modest observations, maybe it will be useful to someone.
Very often I notice that the children I come to have either ADHD or PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA.

If the scheme of work with ADHD is clear, I myself have ADHD 🙂
As for psychological trauma, in my humble opinion, a connection has formed in the brain that Hebrew = danger, trauma.

The child cannot sit normally on a chair, is constantly distracted and cannot concentrate. And this is in the first 5 minutes of the lesson.

In this case, a different scheme of work is needed. First, ask your child how he is doing at school, maybe someone is bullying him, if his friends, if he is afraid to answer on hands, maybe someone is teasing him for not knowing Hebrew, and so on.

As for continuing to study, this means replacing the connection in the brain that Hebrew is dangerous. This means that the child has a block on studying and he will need more time. This means that the child needs more praise, encouragement, support.

In no case punish, reprimand or scold. You as parents must understand that the Israeli education system is built in such a way that grades are important only starting from the 9th grade. Be patient!
