A variety of courses and areas is one of the principles of working with children. Children and parents should always have a choice. But am I doing the right thing by choosing this approach for the courses at Cherdachok, because at the moment I teach all these classes myself?!
In fact, this approach helps not to get hung up on one idea, not to turn classes into a routine, and besides, it really makes me engage in self-development, because for each year, for each group, for individual classes, I have to select a new presentation of already familiar material, and constantly search for interesting things for classes, which ultimately leads to the birth of a new topic, both a class and a course
So, what classes were there last week at Cherdachok?
This year I went for a new experiment: I created a mixed group of 1-2 years in cultural studies. And I need to restructure the program so that Tyoma catches up, and the guys of 2 years do not get bored. And this is a Sunday group.
On Monday, the 2-year-old group and we are studying the Megafauna of North America. And the kids are currently creating their first book.
Tuesday - biology club. We are studying cats. We have sorted out the ancestors, the wild species, the colors: Agouti, black color, white, spots. But in order not to get confused in this, we had to delve into genetics, and explain everything in a language accessible to children aged 9-11; and also, the club members can now solve simple problems in genetics.
Wednesday - rehabilitation. For 4 years now, we have been developing the hand with Lyova from scratch. The left hand. Initially, the right one was the working one, but now it is paralyzed.
Friday 2 classes:
With the 3-year-old girls, we are studying in detail the Neolithic period, and how it influenced the change in people's lives, and in their thinking, and in their ideas about how to live. And what is most interesting is that we still live under its very strong influence. And we started working on a big project to create a model of Göbekli Tepe.
With the guys from the 4th year group, we get acquainted with the life of the Spartans, but not from history textbooks, but from historical sources that are available to us: we read Plutarch, Xenophon, and learn to solve historical problems. At the same time, we are also figuring out the topic of "History" itself and who historians are, and what they write and why.
While anthropology classes are postponed, we are all waiting for everyone who wants to be able to join (someone took exams, someone is rehearsing a play, someone was sick).
