Hebrew tutor
Why did I choose to be a Hebrew tutor for children and teenagers?
Hi, my name is Dasha, I love my job and I want to share with you why I chose this path.
I enjoy working with this audience! This love begins with my personal story of repatriation.
I came to Israel with my family when I was 13 years old. Not understanding anything about the nuances of life abroad, but realizing that in a new country I would have to find new friends, adapt to school, and, of course, pass exams in the final grades to get a bagrut (certificate).
I started learning Hebrew long before the move: for a couple of months my mother and I went to the city ulpan, where I was the only teenager in our group. Then there was a private teacher, and she gave me a solid foundation: I learned to construct sentences in the present tense, remembered many words and prepositions, and even, it seems, understood the past tense a little.
And then? Then all the fun began) After moving to Israel - school and school ulpan.
From the very beginning, I studied using the same materials and books as my parents. They were full of texts and dialogues about the bank, schirut, trips to the hospital or shuk, and what to say at a job interview.
What do you think are interesting topics for a 13-year-old girl? Did I have the motivation to study?
Surprisingly, my motivation to study did not fade, and I continued to learn the language. I myself looked for different interesting texts in Hebrew. I watched cool youth and not so youth series. I read posts on Instagram, listened to local music and books.
It was difficult, because, unfortunately, there was very little free content that would interest me then.
In high school, we had a soldier who came to help us with our studies. And then I thought that I wanted to do the same: I also want to help children, so that it would be easier, more fun and interesting for them to learn a new language.
And now for 4 years, I have been continuously helping children and teenagers, creating and finding exciting and varied content, texts, tasks that are suitable specifically for them. I suggest talking a lot in class about their favorite films, TV series, music, humor, artificial intelligence and other topics that are interesting to them.I am very happy when my students begin to clearly, structurally and easily express their thoughts in Hebrew, both in conversation and in writing.
Have I interested you? Do you want more details? Then bring your child to a trial lesson online.
The main thing is to warn that there will be no texts about shuk and bank 100% 😉
